Our Story

It started with a phone call.

“Are you sitting down?” my Dad asked.

What he told me next was the worst news imaginable: that he had been diagnosed with a rare, aggressive cancer in his skull, and the team of doctors treating him were not yet sure what to do.

Over the months that followed, he came to rely on community transport to reach his treatments, appointment after appointment, during the most frightening period of his life.

I saw firsthand how these services quietly operate, often run by volunteers and funded on a shoestring, yet holding people and families together when they need support most.

And I also saw how easily they could disappear.

For my Dad, those journeys meant access to the care he needed and almost twelve more years with the people who loved him.

That is why I started Road XS, so transport services can keep running sustainably for the thousands of families facing journeys just like Dad’s every single day.
